You got typo mistake, it should be socket 775, not 755.
Yes, for the time being, all the C2D is using socket 775 one, and according to the link below, your motherboard can use DDR only, no DDR2, can only support up to Pentium4 6xx series, not even the PentiumD 8xx series or 9xx series, so forgot about the C2D then, hehe, you should blame Intel for changing the chipset too fast and too offen.
Now the main stream VGA card is PCI-E one, so for AGP card seem like 7600GT is the only better choice for your PC, I think it will cost you arround RM600±.
Your PC is not consider too old, for me it can still last for a lot months, else you can wait for the coming C2Q (not Duo, but is Quad, hehe.) in around August.

Not, the CDQ 6600 will be selling for around USD $266 only by August.
The E6600 price will drop to the price level of the current E6400 in the coming April or May, so wait. . . or get the E6420 with higher speed and 4mb cache at RM700± (USD $183, same price with the E6300 now.). . . if you let me choice E6300 and 3800 X2, I will take E6300, but to be fair, you should compare the same price level product, E6300 vs 4600 X2. . .
