i feel slow when create a new document… need 5sec+ to pop up a blank document…
when u have many layer… u will feel freeze when select those layer… LoL
one of the main function i LOVE is… selection with refine edge…
i can simple remove the background fast & easy…

erm… no idea what happen…
if gif file…try convert ur image to rgb or cmyk…
if ur image is copy from cd… try un-check the [read-only]
if still cant…
